Naked ads for Clothing Company. Huh?

So far throughout my high school experience i have seen and disliked about a hundred of these ads on billboards, bags, and even clothing. I mean Abercrombie and Fitch is a clothing company so why do all of their ads consist of people without their clothes one? like really that makes no sense at all. Me and other always bring it up when we see a bag with this kind of stuff on it and usually girls just say that we are hating because we don't have bodies like those models. (which may be true for my friends but not me).

I hate to be a critique but these ads go against everything the company is trying to sell. If you guys are trying to sell clothes then why not show ads of your clothes? and not guys of girls WITHOUT their clothes on. I use to not see how this might help them but now i do. These ads are obviously targeted at teenage girls who like to admire hot guys. I remember when i was in an Ambercrombie and Fitch store in Texas and a girl walked in and asked for a bag. SHE WASNT EVEN GOING TO BUT ANYTHING, SHE JUST WANTED A BAG TO LOOK AT. What the heck? I swear girls are crazy, but anyways, if the company didnt have hot models all over the walls of their stores i wonder what would happen.

These ads use beauty to attract consumers. One way you can tell is that they use  models for everything and not just normal people. Another way you can tell is that when your passing by one of their stores and look at the entrace all you will see is a picture of a dude with no shirt on. I know what goes on in my head when i see this but i wonder if other people are thinking about why he doesnt have a shirt on too. I know that this technique of using beauty to attract people works but i think it works a little to well if people are buying clothes from a company whose ads consist of people with no clothes.  but what do you think?

Changing Flights

Hahahaha. Once again Sears has me laughing. The first time was with their commercial on the beach. At first I thought that this commercial was actually a movie trailer and me and my mom were like, "That looks like a cool movie." But then all a sudden they smack into refrigerators and the Sears thing comes up. I couldn't stop laughing. I think that its a great funny commercial that would get most peoples attention and that Sears did a good job with it.

Sears was most likely targeting adults because teenagers and kids don't usually buy refrigerators and such. But maybe they were somewhat targeting teens because it makes them laugh and tell their parents about it. By making their commercial funny it makes their viewers have a good feeling about them.

There are many different ways that you could take this commercial. By analyzing this commercial you could come up with the statement that sometimes you can just fall in love over time or how sometimes you can just run into it. Or you could just take it as Sears made me laugh so now i like them. I wonder if they think about how different people will take their commercials and if they try to put deeper meanings into it.

Sears used the best way, to me, to get peoples attention. through love and comedy.  When the commercial starts to play people are like oh this is going to be a cute movie and then BAM! the dude smacks into a fridge and you bust out laughing, if you have a sense of humor. This gets peoples attention because they will remember the commercial for tricking them and being funny. The only problem that I have with this commercial is that it has nothing to do with the product. It says nothing about it. It just shows two people running into it and i don't get how it might make people want to buy their products. I can only see how it might make you like the company. So if you can figure out how it makes you want to buy the product please comment below.

Phone Wars!!

A few weeks ago my mom got the Iphone 4 and I got the IpodTouch 5.(the newest one) My dad has the Samsung Galaxy II and I already have heard enough between them about which one is better. "Mine does this and yours doesnt", "Oh that picture is nice,..but my camera quality is better" and yada yada. While this is going on in my home i also know that it is going on outside of it. People are arguing all the time about wich is better. Some people are diehard Apple people and some are the same for Samsung. Im both since i have Samsung phone and a Apple IpodTouch. haha

While I was thinking about what need might be in place here the need for affiliation imediately came to mind. People tend to cling to what they like the best and try to show that its the best and fight for it. This happens with gaming consoles, phones, computers, tv's, sports teams, and shot even women and men. Everybody just wants to fit in and i noticed that in Apple commercails they always show a group of friends so it gives a sense that if you have this product you will fit in and have a type of community.

The commercails that they show are true though. Most people either have an Apple Iphone or Samsung Galaxy and these people usually hang out or talk. For example, the Apple Iphones and Itouches have Facetime and you can only use it with other Apple users. Not any other brand so in a way its cutting you off and making you become a seperate group. Some people dislike that but the creators arent going to change anything because they want us to become seperate groups. they make more money that way.

I dont think they should be able to do this. No company should be able to target their commercails at our psychological thoughts. Its wrong to use things that naturally atrract us to things to get us to buy products we may not really need. I feel like they force us in a way to spend money and become apart of these cliques.

Great But Bad at the Same Time

While searching the internet  I noticed that this add kept popping up. I didn't understand it at all. "Its not for women?" I always see girls drinking diet Dr. Pepper so why not this one too? But then I thought, "I only see girls drinkng diet sodas and drinks, not guys." This made me see that this ad was targeted at guys to get them to drink their diet sodas by saying its "Manly".

I think that when guys think of diet drinks they think of drinks made for women to get skinny and things of that nature. So i think that they dont drink it because if another dude saw them drinking it they would become all self concious and think that the other guys think he's girly. By targeting the new diet Dr. Pepper at men it will give them an excuse to their friends to drink it and it will raise the money that Dr. Pepper makes off of their male buyers.

I think this was an extremely smart move by Dr. Pepper to launch a diet drink for men. Guys wont be hesitant about buying diet soda which would increase sales, and in a way help out with obesity a little. When a dude buys a diet soda and his friend is like "you on a diet or something?", instead of him saying "uh, no its for my wife" he can be like "yah with the new diet Dr. Pepper thats just for manly guys". Alot of guys take in too many calories so by them buying more diet soda than regular it will help them with how many calories they consume and help in the long run with diabetes. The bad thing is that they might start to buy too much of it and that wouldnt have a good result because even though it has less sugar and calories, the refined sugar in it isnt that healthy. It is actually worse than drinking regular soda because the sugar in diet soda stimulates your appetite which will make you want more carbohydrates which in turn will cause more fat storage and wieght gain. Plus most artifical sweeteners are neurotoxins and can cause brain disorders and male infertility and I dont think most guys would like that to happen. haha

So even though guys will be buying more diet soda they will still need to be careful with how much they consume because if you drink too much of it it can lead to some serious problems.
